Entering a Starting Grade
for a “Transferred” (New) Student in Skyward
(--Jim Kelly, District Tech Specialist, Citrus County Schools)
Teachers can now create an incoming grade for students that transfer into their classes without having to createan
“assignment” for the student
and excluding existing students.
In the gradebook, click on the “New” button next to the student’s name.
You will be taken to the following screen. Depending on several different variables, you may have more or lessofr the Options #1-4 listed below. Option 5 has just been added. The teacher can add a starting grade for thestudent*. When selected, the student will automatically receive his/her incoming percent scores for all previousassignments. (Of course, the teacher will
need to know what grade the student had in the previous class…)
Currently, there is no way for a teacher to look in Skyward to see what grade the incoming student haspreviously earned for the current grading period. The process for getting that grade varies from school-to-
school. For example, one school’s data secretary may have that information, at another school, the registrar or
the guidance personnel may have it. It will depend on what process is in place at the school site.
