Brothers of Howell Lodge #38 F&AM,
A New Year is dawning and 2012 becomes another page of Howell Lodge’s 164 years of history. I often wonder if our founders, Amos Adams proprietor of the Eagle Tavern, and Dr.Gardner Wheeler the first physician to reside in the frontier community of Livingston Centre(Howell), would express amazement that the Masonic Lodge they organized in 1849 continuesas a strong and active fraternity in our modern community.I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Past Master Leslie Ferguson for his successfulleadership in 2012. Brother Ferguson kept the lodge busy with degree work, dinners, charitable activities, poker tournaments and numerous other events. The annual installation of officers occurred December 1, 2012, and was conducted by members of Brother KennyLenfesty’s superb Livingston County Symbolic Lodge Installation Team. The twelve Masonsthat comprise the Installation Team are Past Masters of seven Lodges in our district. Newlyelected and appointed officers wore formal kilts and were piped into the Lodge room to beginthe ceremony. The installation ceremony included an honor guard from Commandry and theRainbow Girl’s Rose Lecture and presentation of the DeMolay’s Ceremony of Light. As allinstallations, this was a night to remember.
December 18, the Blue Lodge and Eastern Star held the annual Christmas dinner and party inFellowship Hall. Following a wonderful ham dinner, there was a reading of The Night BeforeChristmas, a visit from Santa, singing of carols and a kazoo concert.
Wednesday, January 2, 2013, will be the first regular meeting of the New Year. A Fellowcraftdegree is scheduled for Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00. All brothers are encouraged to attendregular monthly meetings and to participate in degree work. This year, at the conclusion of business meetings, there will be a brief Masonic educational presentation and/or implementation of the “Who I Am” program. These programs will provide an opportunity toreceive more light in Masonry and learn more about our Masonic brothers.Best wishes to you all and may the Spirit of Christmas shed its comforting light upon you andyour family and see you safely and happily into the New Year. As a friend and brother, I lookforward to seeing you at Howell’s Masonic Lodge.
