BITS:How To Ask For A Referral
Simply follow the BITS formula.enefits: discuss the value that they have received, or perceived from MUSE.mportance: it’s an important deal. Ask for permission to ask them a question.ime: when you ask, make it for a certain amount of time. i.e. “take 5 min.” pecific: get really specific because it makes it easier for them to refer people.
Mary (teacher): Susan, I’m curious, what have you found to be the most valuable to your son’s education since he arrived at MUSE.Susan (parent): Well, for starters, James (her son) just seems so much more confident inhimself. And he is also enjoying learning and coming to school. I never thought that Iwould hear him say he can’t wait to go back to school the next day, but he has beensaying it. It’s really funny and a relief for me too.Mary: So what I hear you saying is it’s valuable to you to see that James is moreconfident and to know that he is enjoying learning. Is that right?Susan: Yes.Mary: That’s amazing. Susan, I would like to ask you for some help, but only if you’recomfortable.
