Born in 1931 of Highlandparents but orphaned as achild, he received a musicaleducation at CanterburyCathedral Choir School in1940-45. He worked inadvertising agencies from1947, and is a self-taughtartist. After national service inthe Royal Fusiliers, 1949-51, in1953 Angus emigrated toSouth Africa. He came back tothe UK in
and hasworked freelance ever since.With his wife and two childrenhe returned to South Africa in1976, since when he has livedand worked in Cape Town.
