Preparing for the Service
Prayer When Putting on a Tallit
Wearing a Tallit is a personal choice for both men and women over the age of 13. For those who choose to wear a tallit, first inspect the tzitzis on the corners to make sure noharm has been done to them since their last usage, then fold the tallit. While holding it in position to wrap around yourself, recite the following blessing.
,
,

.
Baruch atah Adonai eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav, v'tzivanul'hitateif batzitzit.Blessed are You, Adonai, our God,Sovereign of the universe who hallows uswith Your mitzvot, and teaches us to wrapourselves in the fringed tallit.Wrap yourself in the tallit.
