‘Pablo’ victims thank Muslim brothers for aid

Health Ofce of Maguin-
danao, majority of themMuslims, for holding a four-day relief mission last week in their communities despitethe distance of the provincewhere the health workers aredeployed.Five doctors from theIPHO-Maguindanao and adriver were even badly injuredwhen their vehicle crashedin Baganga, Davao Oriental,while en-route to the areasthey were to serve.Among those injured in thehighway mishap was the chief of the IPHO-Maguindanao, physician Hadji Tahir Sulaik.An evacuee, Perla Man-riquez, 35, said she is gratefulto the “Maguindanaon-speak-ing” nurses and relief workersthat provided them medicaland dental services.About ninety percent of themembers IPHO-Maguindanaorelief team are Muslims,something evacuees in DavaoOriental’s adjoining Cateeland Boston towns never thought of.Sulaik is himself an ethnicMaguindanaon Muslim.“It’s nice to see our Mus-lim brothers and sisters serveus, Christians. We have real-ized that Moro people are notwar mongers, the way theyare projected in news reports.They are humane peoplewho have big hearts for their

good and lasting impressions based on how he saw Sulaik and his subordinates attendedto the needs of people inDavao Oriental.
