The space marines, the glorious defendersof humanity. The ground pounders that go dirtside to slogthrough the mud.Humanity is beset by a thousand horrors, and its up to the men and women of theImperium to hold the line and keep the peace.
This is a campaign for FAD4, taking fulladvantage of many of its rules and options. The campaign can be played cooperatively, with each player taking command of amarine force, and the opposition controlledby the rules. Alternatively, one player cancommand the marines, while the othercommands the opposition, or the playersmay take it in turns. The rules assume you command the sameunit through each battle, but there’s noreason you could not rotate through multipleunits, as the campaign goes on.There is no true “victory” point of thecampaign. Its an endless struggle out there.Soldier on til you reach the goals you set
for yourself, or your character nally dies
on some forsaken backwater. At least thepension they pay your family back home ispretty good.
How the campaign works:
During the campaign, your force will beassigned to a number of missions, againsta variety of alien opposition. Some battlesmay be easy, while others will push yourreserves to the limit. In many of these, youwill be severely outnumbered.
Hopefully, as the campaign goes on, yourmen will develop into a hard core of killers,or at least die with their boots on.
Creating Your Force:
To generate your force in detail, use theAdvanced Force Generation in the FAD4rules. These will generate three platoonsized forces. This will represent a companyof marines.Alternately, you may substitute any forcesyou wish to use. If using the generator, employ all optional rules except “Not likeus”.You should pick out one model in the forceto act as its Focus. This model representsyou as a player, and should be given thesame name. Your character has the uniqueability to ignore morale checks. Each platoon commander should be namedas well. Go ahead and name them afterfriends, family , teachers, bosses or pets. The rest of the force are faceless clones, until one of them distinguishes themselvesin combat.Make sure you are happy with your force, before proceeding. You may receivereinforcements and will certainly sufferlosses, but you will not be able to rely on
any outside units ghting alongside your
Boundless Wars, InfInite Stars
 A campaign for FAD4
The space marines use a wide variety of gear, and are equipped and trained to widelydifferent standards. Thus, any force that canbe created with the generator is valid. Feelfree to invent explanations. Maybe the lightlyequipped platoon in your force are marinesecurity troops, used to secure installations.
Maybe there just wasn’t enough gauss ries
to go around.
Finding a war:
The following tables are used to determine
what war you will be ghting in.
1-2:Aliens are attacking imperialterritory3-4:Disputed territory5-6:Pre-emptive attack before alienscan do anything devious
1-2:Colony or urban center3-4:Installation (mining, science,defense, etc.)5-6:Dirt or wilderness
Racial Name:
Roll once on each of the following fourtables to generate the name of the race inquestion.
Racial Nature:
Genetic modications/droids
2:Alien terrors3:Reanimated4:Post-individualists5:Human offshoot, transplanted byancient race6:Unstable genetic strains
Why should this race of aliens beexterminated?:
1:Slavery2:Man eating3:Territorial expansion – alien4:Territorial expansion – human5:Pirates6:WarlikeOnce the above details have been determined, your force will be committed to a series of battles, representing key encounters of thewar. It costs a lot of money to ship militaryunits across the galaxy, hence it is notuncommon for wars to be determined bya relatively small number of boots on theground.Your forces are assumed to be representativeof the overall war effort.Roll below to determine the number of battles that must be fought:1:3 platoon battles2:4 platoon battles3: 5 platoon battles4:4 platoon + 1 company battle5: 6 platoon battles6:4 platoon +2 company battles.
Pre-battle sequence:
Selecting a battle force:
For a platoon battle, you may include upto 4 squads, 3 support weapons and 3independent characters. These may bedrawn from any troops in your company. Allmarines are cross trained to work togetherdespite differences in command andequipment. For a company battle, throw everything youhave on the table. Its all or nothing!
Determining the mission:
Use the scenario generation method in theFAD4 rules. The Stance and Attitude of thealiens can be generated randomly.Due to their insidious nature, the aliensreceive 3 extra recon points. If uncontrolled, the aliens expend all RP trying to block yourexpenditures. When rolling for missions, the aliens onlymodify their rolls by Stance and Attitude. They never apply the discretionary
Determining the opposing force:
The alien forces are generated using therules for “Building basic forces” in the FAD4main rules. In addition, the aliens will have alien traits,as determined by the racial nature roll. Rolltwice on the racial nature table. If the second
roll is identical, assign the rst unassigned
trait, from the top of the list. The aliens never have specialized units, soall units will posses the same traits.
Determine the size of the opposition:
For the rst two battles of each war, you
will face the standard opposition. From thethird battle onwards, the enemy will haveone additional squad, for each battle foughtpast three. This means in a 6 battle war, they would get
4 additional squads in the nal battle!
