Lorenzos Oil When a child gets sick or wounded or bullied, the people greatly inflicted with pain are the parents. They would go to any extent to lighten the burden of their child or to extend his life; this was how Lorenzos parents showed their love for him. When Lorenzo was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) which was a rare disease that time, the doctors told his parents that the disease had no cure and that the span for a person with ALD was 2 years. Any parents heart would be torn to pieces to hear that their child would die after 24 months. As if the world crushed to their feet to see their healthy young boy inflicted with such disease. But that did not stop them from trying. They know that they had to listen to what the doctors told them and follow for the sake of their childs welfare. What inspired me the most about this movie was the persistence and perseverance of Michaela and Augustus Odone, they were just simple parents who loves their child. They were aware that they dont know anything about the disease so what they did was to educate themselves with the situation of Lorenzo. They never stopped searching for possible options especially Augustus. When people around them were telling them to just accept the fact that they just have to face the effects of ALD, they never gave up. This film taught me that life will give us struggles that we have to face and problems that we have to solve but that should not stop us from trying and fighting. As a scientist in the making, many rejections in the future will await us but with persistence and patience, we will finally arrive with our desired product or outcome. Having faith to ones capability also help in shaping our drive to stand strong through all the trials life may bring us.
