Recipe for Idli /rice cake Ingredients:Urad Dhal- 1 cup Rice- 3 cups Methi seeds- 1 tbsp Preparatory method:

Soak all the 3 ingredients for an hour Clean and drain Grind urad dhal separately into fine batter Rice and methi separately into coarser batter Mix both the batter,adding salt Let the batter ferment overnight Then,spoon the batter in a rice cake mould plate and steam it in a rice cake steamer/steamer for 5mts in high flame and 2mts in slow flame Let the steamed rice cake be cooled by sprinking few drops of water Using a spatula/knife,take out the rice cake from the mould and is ready to be eaten Idli /rice cake is best served with Coconut/tomato/green chutney /Sambhaar-with a few drops of ghee in it.
