In God We Trust

By Elton Camp Pious slogans some want to promote Like the one found on coin and note As if such sentiment its fine to dictate By what is supposed to be a secular state At such a thing we should be astounded In a country on religious freedom founded What does it matter! some will shout Then righteous words begin to spout Ignorantly and presumptuously they dare To think that all, their views should share With such anger their faces would turn red If, In Allah We Trust is what it said Agnostics and atheists are both citizens too Besides, that slogan is so patently untrue For its economic advantage the public seeks Not looking for what divine wisdom speaks In greed we trust, the motto should be saying Rather than to pretend that God theyre obeying

A far more truthful motto
