2013 Crucial Year for Minnesota’s New Multi
-Purpose Stadium Development
;
Construction Manager to be Announced February 1, 2013

December 31, 2012 (Minneapolis, MN)

 –
As Minnesotans prepare to ring in a New Year, theMinnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) are preparing for a busy year in the development of the new multi-purpose stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

“We are following a strict timeline to ensure a 2016 stadium opening, and 2013 is an extremely
important year in th
e development of this project” said
Minnesota Vikings Vice President LesterBagley
.
“Not only will we select a construction manager who will build the stadium, but we will also
unveil the vision and the design of the facility and break ground. This is a very exciting time for both the
Vikings and the state.”
Following the first meeting of the MSFA on June 22, 2012, the MSFA and the Vikings have beenworking collaboratively on the new stadium over the last six months. While the project remains on timeand on budget, the two sides have agreed to allow more time for what will be one of the most criticaldecisions
 –
the selection of the construction manager.
“We have moved the selection of the con
struction manager back to accommodate requests fromp
roposers for more time to develop proposals,” said
MSFA Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen
. “We will now
announce the construction manager on February 1, and will unveil the design in the spring. And whilethe Vikings are playing the 2013 season in the Metrodome, we will be breaking ground behind the
stadium.”
