Two Secrets To Always Printing Perfect Labels

Here are two simple, yet important printing tips for any label or cardstock material found at www.tlcIT.com or anywhere else for that matter.

1. Always test print your labels or cardstock on a plain sheet of paper before you use the actual label or card stock material. Shocking I know, but you might be surprised at how many wasted labels you would save if you took the time to do this one simple process.

The easiest way to see if your printed test sheet is correct, is to simply hold the printed sheet behind the actual label or cardstock sheet. Holding the combination up to a light or lighted window will make it easier to see if everything lines up. From this, you can easily tell if your horizontal and vertical alignments are correct for each and every cell of your label or cardstock layout. Be sure to study each and every cell of the layout and make to make incremental adjustments in your program to compensate for any misalignments (horizontally or vertically) to ensure perfect alignment.

For instance, if the entire sheet of labels is slightly off kilter, you might make an adjustment to the top and or left margins of your printing program settings if it has that feature to make them line up. By printing several plain paper sheets and then checking the results, you will finally close in on the perfect settings for that particular label layout. Then you should be ready to print them on the real thing.

The second tip is equally important yet you’d be surprised at how many people ignore it.

2. Feed labels one time only through a printer. That’s right, when printing label products with an inkjet or laser printer, you will find that feeding a sheet of labels through the printer more than once is not a good idea. It’s best to feed them through the printer one time only. Avery labels and other label brands guarantee your satisfaction “to a sheet of labels that has been fed though a printer a single time.”

Pretty simple tips… yet pretty important ones! Good luck.
