"Mrosado" makes a very good point - all herbal remedies purchased and taken over the counter should be checked out for contraindications with your physician first. The problem with consuming too much, or excessive amounts of "anything", to ease Gout (or anything else) is the potential to throw off the body's Sodium-Potassium balance. Heart Meds of ANY kind do not need to be negated through use of supplements - even something as seemingly harmless celery or pineapple juice. Also, folks with any cardiac anomaly have to be mindful of their Calcium levels and ingesting Nitrates - commonly used as preservatives. The main thrust of the Article on Arthritis.sc is that Southern Grandma's knew about Gout Treatments long before modern day Md's - now those same natural "cures" are readily available and sold in the stores. Gotta love your Grandma's Wisdom!

I've never experienced "The Gout" but I know people who have and it is an extremely debilitating affliction from what I can tell. This is some great info that I'll definitley pass along! I've also heard that pineapple juice, watermelon and black cherry juice all help balance the uric acid in the system. Just be careful w/ the pineapple juice, I think it has some contraindications w/ certain heart meds - so that's something to check w/ a doctor about...
