The Highway Safety Ofce, the Utah Highway Patrol and the world lost a special friend, father, trooper and hero thissummer, when Trooper Aaron Beesley died in the line of duty on a search and rescue mission.Trooper Aaron Robert Beesley joined the Utah Highway Patrol in January of 2000. He worked at the State Capitol andthen in Weber County. His supervisors noticed his technological skills, and he quickly became a go-to technology personfor law enforcement agencies throughout the State. It was his established reputation as a tech guru that helped lead himto join the Highway Safety Ofce for a two-year temporary assignment as the crash data law enforcement liaison in 2011.Aaron was very instrumental in promoting electronic crash reporting for Utah’s law enforcement agencies and even de-veloped mobile phone apps he shared to help ofcers state and nationwide. He brought boundless energy to his role andto the ofce. He also assisted the UHP’s Aero Bureau on various missions, and it was on one such mission on June 30,2012, during a search and rescue to help two stranded hikers, that Aaron lost his life. Aaron is survived by his wife of 12years, Kristie and their three sons, Austin, Derek and Preston. We will always remember Aaron and be forever gratefulfor his service and for making the ultimate sacrice while helping others.
