UK Environmental Quality Standard (EQS) for Saltwater Lowest known aquatic toxicity range values (LEC) taken from R&D Technical Report P45, PAH: Priorities for Environmental Quality Standard Development (2001). Values in brackets refer to the derived predicted no effect concentrations (PNEC) which in the absence of specific data is currently arbitrarily defined as 1/100th of the aquatic toxicity range. For the purpose of calculating the mean value, concentrations below detection limit are regarded as zero, unless >90% of values are below detection limit. Saline Water EQS is defined as visible oils and grease. A value of 5mg/l has been defined as a conservative value to represent possible free phase hydrocarbons. UK Drinking Water Standard
