Some Interesting Nanotech Videos for Science Outreach 12-12 By Dr.

Jack Driscoll Public Relations Chair, Northeastern Section of the ACS

These are some videos on nanotechnology taken from http://www.youtube.com. Once you are on youtube, you can type nanotech into the search function and find many more interesting videos. They can be useful for students eight years up to high school. Parents may also find them a useful introduction to nanotechnology. I have made a few comments before each of the urls for the videos. Make sure that you are connected to the internet, then press the Ctrl button and click on the url . This will take you directly to the appropriate video. Nanotech Intro- The first one, Nanotechnology Chemistry Matters was produced by the American Chemical Society and is a very nice introduction to the subject. Nanotech is explained and Shaqs height is 2,billion nm and many potential applications are discussed including micro sized computers, medical applications, nanobots that can make more bots or manufacture microsized components, make filters that can clean water etc. The url below will take you directly to the video.

Nanobots- A short video describes some nanobots:

to a windshield is not impressive until the automobile is going faster than 36 mph. At or above this speed, there is enough force to drive the rain off the windshield and eliminate the need for wipers. Will this also keep frost off the windshield?

Nanotech is this a new technology? The beautiful red color in the stained glass windows made in the 13th century have recently been found to be nano particles of gold. By a successive heating and cooling process nano particles of gold change color from yellow (macro particles) to red (nano particles). This video provides info on the effect of particle size on the properties of a number of materials. This info was provided by Lawrence Livermore Labs.

Nanotech and Energy- This is a more advanced but interesting video on the potential effect of nanotechnology replacing fossil fuels.
