The start of the New Year means ObamaCare tax hikesfor many and the countdown to the health reform law’sofficial inauguration on Jan. 1, 2014. Twelve monthsfrom now, most Americans will face a “tax” via theindividual mandate. There will supposedly be new onlineinsurance marketplaces called “exchanges,” and Americancompanies and businesses with at least 50 workers will owepenalties if they don’t cover full-time employees. Oh, and onemore thing: Did you know that “full-time” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323300404578205480475990970.html?mod=djemHL_t)means working at least
 30 hours per week
?
For American employers, the magic number of “50” will mean the coming year will bespent exploring options to comply with the new regulation while keeping costs down so asnot to infringe on profits. To make things even more difficult, a brand new ObamaCareregulation (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323984704578208250108090498.html?mod=djemHL_t), released by the administration last week, requires employers to extend health insurance coverage,as well, to their workers’ children who are under the age of 26. Interestingly, the new regulation does not require that employees’ spouses be covered, yet another curiosity thatsuggests an administration that does not recognize the traditional family unit.Nevertheless, beginning in 2014, employers that do not offer coverage to their “full-time”employees will pay a penalty of $2,000 per worker, per year.

Sort by newest firstSmaller businesses with at least 50 full-time employees may choose to opt out of providinghealth insurance completely, since the penalties are less costly than the insurance itself. Many employers, however, will likely choose to fire some full-time workers and/or drop workers to permanent “part-time” status, in order to be under the magic number of "50"full-timers. In fact, some economists (http://teapartyeconomist.com/2013/01/02/obamacare-arrives-jobs-will-depart/) believe that the health reform law will create ahigh level of competition among part-time workers. In addition, the cuts of entire full-timepositions and reductions to part-time will likely produce some significant negative effects.First, those full-time employees whose positions have been entirely cut will beunemployed and in need of unemployment benefits. Unless you are Nancy Pelosi and believe that unemployment benefits are a great economic stimulus, suffice it to say thatmore people on unemployment means less economic growth and less tax revenues paid onincome. Those workers reduced to part-time status will obviously have less income and, therefore, be able to spend less, and perhaps not be able to keep their homes. These workers willthen also be among the “underemployed,” Americans who never seem to be considered when the unemployment rate is published. As the number of part-timers increases, theunemployment rate stays the same. Funny how that works. Finally, in the ObamaCare scheme of things, those who are not insured at work will beinsured in the exchanges; that is, if and when the exchanges are set up.So far, ObamaCare looks like a long road to nowhere.

When my husband loses his job and we lose our home because his company couldn't afford all this garbageObama and this congress put on them, I'll be giving a call to my rep and senators to see how all these "great"legislative decisions are effecting their lives like they will be all the peasants in the land.Funny how that works. They make the decrees on high and we pay for it. Meanwhile, they still have their job, home, etc. on mine and your dime. What a great gig!

We have had several doctors retire in our area because of Obamacare. Other doctors have teemed up witharea hospitals to try and cut the coming costs associated with Obamacare. Yesterday I heard that onecommunity hospital is worried that they may have to close. The community hospital that I work at is trying tomerge with a larger hospital to keep from going under. A co-worker told me that her mother received a letterfrom her long time doctor that he will no longer be taking care of patients who are not either on privateinsurance or paying totally out of pocket because of Obamacare. All patients on medicare and medicaid will bedropped. Our ER is full of people who don't need emergency care. Our hospital is struggling because the stateof Illinois is 9 months behind in their payments. So here is what is starting to happen. Doctors are cutting medicare and medicaid patients. Other doctors aregetting out of practice. These patients go to Ers for non emergency help because they have no doctor. Thehospitals are juggling their bills because either they are not getting paid from the state or they are absorbing thecosts from patients that have no insurance or money. The hospitals close because they can't afford to run. Somuch for Obamacare.

Off topic: Is that really his signature? Why does he stop 3 times while writing the "O"? He doesn't stop whilewriting the swooping "B". Short of it being a bad fountain pen, a dip pen, or not his actual signature, that seemsrather strange.

And thanks to the drive by media also. They have given this marxist a free pass. I hope all thoseliberal media and liberal academic types realise that when Obama makes a move to become presidentfor life they will no longer be needed. They will be the first ones the evil regime disposes of.The only thing that will save these idiots will be the patriots who fight the wicked regime.

Don't you know that this is Obama's plan for job growth. Since all the employment we now be part time they willrequire more workers. That means more jobs. Yes they will all be low paid and without benifits, but Obamadoesn't care about that. If we add a bunch of part-time crapy jobs it will make Obama look good, and that is ALLHE CARES ABOUT!

Yup. Obamacare is not good for people what with rising costs (unintended, they say!). It isn't good for business. It isn't good for insurance companies. It isn't good for doctors with all that extra paperwork/less pay. It isn't goodfor a dang soul besides Big Government, if it has one.www.conservativemormonmom.blog...
