NAHJ NEVADA and THE LAS VEGAS REVIEWJOURNAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists strives to encourage Latinos to enter the ranks of journalism, to work for fair and accurate coverage of our community and to promote the advancement of our members into positions of leadership in our industry. In partnership with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, NAHJ Nevada is sponsoring a 10-week internship program for aspiring print journalists. A weekly stipend of $570 will be provided. The program begins in May or June 2013, depending on the interns availability. To qualify, an applicant must be enrolled in a college or university. Recent graduates who completed their studies in Fall 2012 are also eligible to apply. All applicants must be student members of NAHJ. (Visit www.nahj.org to become a member.) NAHJ Nevada will evaluate the initial pool of applicants and nominate two candidates for the ReviewJournals consideration. Applicants are also encouraged to apply for other internships at the ReviewJournal. INTERNSHIP WILL BE AWARDED BY APRIL 1, 2013. Attach four copies of the following materials to four copies of this form. Use paperclips, not staples, when assembling your application. Applications must be received by Friday, March 1, 2013. A resume and cover letter. A 300-word essay on why diversity still matters in Americas newsrooms. Your essay should also mention the qualities and accomplishments you would bring to the RJ and a career in journalism. Three to five writing clips or CDs of multimedia work. Two letters of reference, at least one from a professor or faculty adviser on school letterhead.
