In 2008, more than 20 councils across B.C. joined us in this important campaign to raise awareness of important community-based social services. This initiative is being undertaken by British Columbia's community social services workers. Every community in our province is affected by these important services, yet they are often invisible and not well understood. Community social services include: © child care * employment and housing support for people with developmental disabil © specialized services for immigrant families * services for First Nations families * support for women dealing with violence, substance abuse and addiction- related services ‘© awide range of assistance to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds . and much more. Throughout the month of March, community social services workers, along with others in your community, will be engaging in a variety of activities to raise awareness. Some of these activities may be planned in your community such as information booths and displays in public locations.
