Mlegal drug operations ‘On October 16, 2008, we hosted a forum on the impact of illegal drug operations (DOs) on housing. Over 100 stakeholders including some of the mayors, councilors and relevant staff from local Fraser Valley municipalities attended our event. At the conclusion of the forum, we asked the attendees to consider joining a task force to explore developing consistent methods, across municipal boundaries, of reporting whether a property has been used as a drug operation, and identify ‘consistent standards for remediating them. We followed up with a letter to all the Fraser Valley mayors before last year's ‘municipal elections to ask them to consider sitting on this task force or recommend a senior level representative. We anticipate the group meeting six times over a period of one year, on a bi-monthly basis. Progress would be re-evaluated after one year to determine if more time is needed to complete the mandate. © Has the Township reviewed our letter and selected an appropriate individual to serve on the task force? Support for capital gains tax rollovers One of the issues we discuss with the federal government each year is the benefit of allowing capital gains tax rollovers. Some Fraser Valley municipalities have prepared letters in the past to support our lobbying efforts because this move by the federal government would help them to revitalize communities, especially downtown cores. ‘+ How would the township continue to support our federal lobbying efforts on capital gains tax rollovers? 3.
