N19 September 23, 2012 Title: Soft GunScore: “C”Comments: I actually watched it a few times but it couldnever hold my attention for very long, especially after I hadseen the same scenes before. I never figured out what thetitle meant. I don’t understand how they could afford thisexcursion since they didn’t have jobs worth worrying about. Ihave been to the places they visit but they often don’tmention where they are, this makes everything lessinteresting. I noticed they had no reflection on the placesthey were visiting and had nothing to relate to about them,no likes or dislikes.. I especially couldn’t figure howabsolutely no one in Georgia, at a party full of people, had asouthern accent. I don’t think as much planning went intothis film as did making it. It is not well thought out. Thebeginning is scenes of walking, driving, walking and walking. They rent bikes and pedal them around nowhere. The musictakes up more time than the dialogue but none of it isfamiliar and it’s all the same genre. The acting is fairlybelievable, the costumes are accurate for the type of characters portrayed. The characters are not very likablethey get high and behave neurotically or self destructively. Title: Summer DreamScore: “B”Comments: This film has a message that it never lets up on,so that pretty annoying. Some of the actors are too stageythey have a volume just above necessary and perpetualsmiles. The romantic female lead giggles like a seventhgrader as she hurls herself at the man. It’s even moreunpleasant because he told her to stop and that he ismoving on in his travels… Awkward. So she shows upwherever he is and people start asking him where she is,and it’s very creepy stalking behavior. The film has adreamlike, skirting reality feel to it, as if this were some onesmemoirs. The production is stark, no extras, not much
