Madison, WI On Thursday, the first day of the new legislative session, Wisconsinites will rally outside of the State Capitol building at an event organized by the Wisconsin Wave. At the rally speakers will denounce the majority party's planned anti-worker, anti-education, and anti-environment agenda. They will also charge that the majority party has no democratic authority to govern because the fall general election was rigged via unprecedented, hyper-partisan gerrymandering. Speakers will call on the legislature to resign, and for new elections to be held with new legislative districts drawn by a nonpartisan redistricting authority. Who: The Wisconsin Wave is organizing the rally. Confirmed speakers include AFSCME Local 1871 President Andy Heidt, Madison Teachers Inc. President Kerry Motoviloff, environmental activist Carl Sack, student activist Damon Terrell, Eleni Schirmer of the Teaching Assistants' Association (TAA), and Sarah Manski of the Wisconsin Wave, among others.
