ACTION:
Proposed rule.
SUMMARY:
We, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, propose to designate criticalhabitat for the Gunnison sage-grouse
(Centrocercus minimus)
under the EndangeredSpecies Act of 1973, as amended (Act). If we finalize this rule as proposed, it would

extend the Act’s protections to this species’ critical habitat. The effect of this regulationis to designate critical habitat for the Gunnison sage-grouse under the Act. In total,approximately 689,675 hectares (ha) (1,704,227 acres (ac)) are being proposed fordesignation as critical habitat in Chaffee, Delta, Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Mesa,Montrose, Ouray, Saguache, and San Miguel Counties in Colorado, and in Grand and SanJuan Counties in Utah.
