Political Declarationof the Petrocaribe-AlbaExtraordinary Ministerial Meeting
We, the Governments of Antigua and Barbuda, Belize,Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Grenada, Guatemala,Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Nicaragua, the DominicanRepublic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, e Saint Vincent and theGrenadines, Saint Lucia, Surinam and Venezuela havegathered, at the highest level, in Caracas, BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela, this 9 and 10 of January 2013, onthe occasion of the Petrocaribe - ALBA ExtraordinaryMinisterial Meeting in solidarity with President HugoChavez. At this Meeting we have undersigned this PoliticalDeclaration to:

Express the full endosement of the new political,economic, social and cultural spaces represented byPetrocaribe and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoplesof Our America (ALBA), which were established at theinitiative of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chavez, and thatconstitute an essential contribution of the BolivarianRevolution to the consolidation of regional union andintegration.

Reiterate our full and absolute solidarity with thePresident of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,Commander Hugo Chavez, who is fighting a major battle for his wellbeing in our sister Republic of Cuba.

Join the numerous manifestations of faith and spiritualexpressions all over the world, and we offer prayers for the full recovery of President Hugo Chavez’ health andhis prompt return to Venezuela, homeland of theLiberator Simon Bolivar.

Reiterate our congratulations to Commander HugoChavez on his victory in the elections held on 7October 2012 with a significant majority of the popular and freely expressed vote. These elections resulted inhis re-election as the President of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela for a new term of six yearsstarting on 10 January 2013.

 Also congratulate the Venezuelan people on their impressive demonstration of their democraticcommitment and citizenship represented by theioverwhelming participation in the presidential electionsof 7 October 2012, which was a record in therepublican history of Venezuela.

Wish to express our full confidence in the Governmentof the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and thedemocratic institutions of that fraternal country and wefully support the actions which have been taken withinthe framework of the Constitution of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela to make sure that thedemocratically expressed will of the Venezuelanpeople is seriously respected.

 Affirm that we will be steadfast with the Venezuelanpeople and their Bolivarian Government in strictrespect for the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republicof Venezuela, in its effort to ensure that the healthsituation of President Hugo Chávez be not used as apretext by the enemies of the Bolivarian Revolution todestabilize the Venezuelan homeland; and accordinglydenounce any interference in Venezuela’s internalaffairs, a matter on which the Venezuelan people haveclearly expressed their democratic will.-Urge respect for the ruling of the Supreme Court of theBolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the body which has
