Alternative medicine in oral mucosal lesions Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is the term for diverse group of medical products and practices that are not part of standard care. These resources complement or replace conventional therapies, or used as palliative therapy with a specific emphasis on research that explores the biological mechanisms of action, as well as their efficacy, safety, costs, patterns of use and/or implementation. CAM practices are often grouped into broad categories such as natural products, mind & body medicine, manipulative & body based practices. It encompasses movement therapies a broad range of Eastern & Western based approaches. Certain dietary modifications such as inclusion of zinc, flavanoids, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, adenosine monophosphate and other natural substances may be useful for management of oral mucosal lesions or preventing recurrence. At present there is no gold standard treatment for management for oral mucosal lesions that has clinically proven to be effective without any adverse effects. Most treatments have been hampered by the absence of uniform reporting system for classification & staging of the disease. All-natural treatment, beneficial for the healing of oral mucosal lesions & sores comprises medicinal herbs with demonstrated anti-inflammatory, restorative and regenerating action. These include homeopathy, chiropractic and herbal medicines, traditional chinese therapy, yoga therapy, magnetotherapy, physiotherapy, immunotherapy. Home remidies such as aloe vera, Kath safaid, Dana eelaichi khurd, Kishneez khusk, Shab Yamani, Tabasheer, Gulnar, Sandal safaid, Sandal surkh, Gul surkh, Gul sayoti, Posth Haleela zard, Asl alsoos muqassar, Murmuki, Mazoo, onion, tomatoes, turmeric, honey, pursulane, fish oil, Sea Buckthorn oil, Whole Rose

Hip oil, Calendula, Plantain oils are used in management of many mucosal lesions such as leukoplakia, erythroplakia, lichen planus, apthous ulcer, herpes simplex, candidiasis etc.
