in his objective study of the texts, Maurice Bucaille clears away many preconceived ideas about the Old Testament, the Gospels and the Qur'an. He tries, in this collection of Writings, to separate what belongs to Revelation from what is the product of error or human interpretation. His study sheds new light on the Holy Scriptures. At the end of a gripping account, he places the Believer before a point of cardinal importance: the continuity of a Revelation emanating from the same God, with modes of expression that differ in the course of time. It leads us to meditate upon those factors which, in our day, should spiritually unite rather than divide-Jews, Christians and Muslims.

As a surgeon, Maurice Bucaille has often been in a situation where he was able to examine not only people's bodies, but their souls. This is how he was struck by the existence of Muslim piety and by aspects of Islam which remain unknown to the vast majority of non-Muslims. In his search for explanations which are otherwise difficult to obtain, he learnt Arabic and studied the Qur'an. In it, he was surprised to find statements on natural phenomena whose meaning can only be understood through modern scientific knowledge. He then turned to the question of the authenticity of the writings that constitute the Holy Scriptures of the monotheistic religions. Finally, in the case of the Bible, he proceeded to a confrontation between these writings and scientific data. The results of his research into the Judeo-Christian Revelation and the Qur'an are set out in this book.

Actually, I own two Korans. (Pickthall translation & Dawood translation) If neccessary, I can check up to ten alternative translations online. Like the vast majority of the worlds Muslims, I do not speak Arabic and so I have to use translations of the Koran. I am sure that most Muslims find the Koran impressive just like other religious people find their own Scriptures impressive. If there is logic and evidence in the Koran, I think that Maurice Bucaille has not dne a very good job in finding it.

I see from your words that you have not read a translated copy of the Koran Otherwise, you know what the order of God in the Koran to the books of other religions and other religions .. My friend .. This book is most certainly not an objective study of The Bible, the Quran and Science.It is Islamic Fundamentalist propaganda. The Author does a fairly good job critically examining the Bible. He concludes that the traditional Christian interpretation of the Bible as the word of God cannot be sustained.His approach is basically that of a Liberal Catholic Theologian. Where this book really falls down is that the author adopts a double standard for judging Islam and the Koran. His approach is extremely naive and he swallows Islamic Fundamentalist propaganda about the supposed inerrant nature of the Koran hook, line and sinker. The authors conclusion is basically that Islam is correct and that the Koran is of divine origin. The Bible is dismissed as corrupt. The author tries to show that the Koran contains hidden scientific knowledge that was centuries ahead of its time.His arguments are very weak though and are based on circular reasoning.You could be forgiven for thinking that the author is a Muslim. In reality, the Koran is every bit as corrupt and incompatible with science as the Bible is. I am currently working on a document that should demonstrate this this. In fact, the Koran teaches a flat earth and a solid sky. According to the Koran,earth is fixed in the centre of the universe and the sun, moon and stars are just little lights in the sky which are not very far away. Check my documents later this year for the proof of this.
