Typical Features of Japanese Art

1) Nature a deep understanding and respect for nature, including human nature - common subjects include birds, flowers, landscapes, humans also seasons, weather, etc. 2) Space important use of space, often empty space and asymmetry emotion, sense of movement and change 3) Extremes artists often go to extremes and contrasts an artist may create ornate art one day and a simple ink painting the next 4) Humor and Playfulness laugh at ourselves and our flaws and mistakes so as not to feel superior to other creatures with whom we share the earth. 5) Joy sense of buoyant movement, dance through the use of color, forms and line. A great sense of wonder and delight!
