These verses are most often
misconceived
and
misinterpret
by many non-Muslims as well as the Muslims, and many anti-Islamic people use it to deceive the Muslims by attributing it to the

"And if Allah hold (i.e call to account) the people (humankind) for theiroppressing (i.e. disbelieving or sinning) (then) He would not leave (spare) any livingcreature on it (the earth) but He gives them respite till a term appointed; and whentheir appointed term comes (i.e. expires) (then) they will neither be able to delay (it)a (single) hour nor will they be able to anticipate (it)."[Qur'an,

"And if Allah hold (i.e call to account) the people (humankind) for what they have earned (i.e. disbelieving or sinning) (then) He would not leave (spare) any living creature on the back of it (the earth) but He gives them respite till a termappointed; and when their appointed term comes (i.e. expires) then, undoubtedly, Allah has all His servants in His sight."[Qur'an,
 Sura Fatir
35:45]
Many a times, people and even the most-revered so-called "scholars" of this greatUmmah think these Qur'anic versesto mean that none can be righteous in the sightof Allah even if one is hard-working and righteoussince the verse mentions that ifAllah punishes the people for their sins then He will NOT leave any living creature onthe earth (supposedly including the God-fearing people) indicating that EVERYONEIS A HELL-DESERVING SINNER.Allah should have revealed the verse like this:

"And if Allah call people to account for their oppression [or earning (as in the otherverse)] (then) He would not leave (spare) any
sinner
on it (the earth)..."Because only sinners are to be punished, not the righteous people!
Am I right?
But that is not the case, because there is a Hadith (or Saying of ProphetMuhammad) which clarifies this as to
why did Allah mention that he wouldnot leave anyone on the earth. WILL ALLAH PUNISH EVEN THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE (THEBELIEVERS)?
The Hadith is as follows:
 - -.--/- :
Narrated Harith ibn Abi Rabi'a and 'Abdullah ibn Safwan both went to Umm Salama, the Mother of the Faithful, and they asked her about the army which would be sunk in the earth, and this relates to the time when Ibn Zubair (was the governor of Mecca). She reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had said: "A seeker of refuge would seek refuge in the Sacred House and an army would be sent tohim (in order to kill him) and when it would enter a plain ground, it would be madeto sink."I said:"Allah's Messenger, what about him who would be made toaccompany this army willy nilly?"Thereupon he said:"He would be made to sink along with them buf he would be raised on the Day of Resurrection on the basis of hisintention."Abu Ja'far said. ' This plain, ground means the plain ground of Medina.[Sahih Muslim, Book 52 - Book of Pertaining to the Turmoil and Portents of the LastHour (
 Kitab al-Fitan wa Ashrat al-Sa`ah
), Chapter 2, Hadith 4 (2882), 4/2208,Publisher: Dar Ihya al-Turath al-Arabi, Beirut (Arabic Version – AlMeshkat.net) & Hadith6886 (English Translation – ImaanStar.com)]
There is another Hadith.

 .[ : ]--/ - :
Aisha reported that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “Towards the concludingperiod of this ummah, there will be (punishment through) sinking of the earth, metamorphosis and rain of stones from the sky.”She asked,
“O Messenger of Allah (peacebe upon him), will we perish while among us are the righteous?”  He said, “Yes when evil is rampant (and overpowering).”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Book 34 - Book of Trials and Afflictions (
 Kitab al-Fitan
),Chapter 21, Hadith 2185, 4/479, Publisher: Dar Ihya al-Turath al-Arabi, Beirut (Arabic Version – AlMeshkat.net)]
After reading the above two hadiths, IT IS CLEAR as to why the Qur'an mentionsthat Allah would NOT leave a single living creature instead of mentioning ONLY THESINNERS.THE ANSWER IS:
Because it is Allah's Sunna (a way of dealing) with his slaves that when He intends topunish the sinners (in a community) He makes even the righteous amongst them die along with the sinners, but only the sinners are being punished while the righteous are dying because it was the end of their (the righteous people's) life and on the day of judgementthey (the righteous people) will be rewarded for the pain they underwent for not dying anormal death as the hadith mentions:
ˆ ˆŠˆ ‹‹‡ˆ ‹‹Œˆˆ ŽŒˆ•‡ˆ• ˆŒˆ Ž‡ˆ •ˆŠ •‡ˆ ˆŒˆ ŽŒˆ•‡ˆ Œˆˆ ˆ‡ˆ• ˆˆ Š Žˆ ˆ Žˆˆ ˆˆ‹•Š ˆ ˆˆˆ ˆ ˆ Œ.ˆ‰ˆ ‡‹ ˆˆˆ“ˆ‡Œ Œˆ ”‰ ‰ˆ –‰ ˆ Ž‡• ˆ ”ˆ ˆ Žˆˆ ˆ Žˆˆ--/:
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace beupon him) said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."
