Job Description:
Annunciation is currently building a coffee house to serve as acommunity gathering point for Broadmoor and surroundingneighborhood residents. We envision the coffee house as a place tocelebrate local culture including music, poetry, book readings,open mic nights, recovery group meetings, small group gatherings,and other activities. The building, located on our campus, isdirectly on one of the busiest thoroughfares in New Orleans. Inaddition, the Mission houses over 2,000 people a year who arelooking for alternate activities during the evenings. The intern willcreate a business and operations plan for the coffeehouse.We are open to the internship being combined with a two-year, paid fellowship to operate and lead the coffee house beginning inSeptember 2009. This is an excellent opportunity for someonewith an entrepreneurial spirit who is interested in developing a new business that is community focused.
Overview of Responsibility:

Research best practices for coffee houses.
-
Research menus and pricing options.
-
Assess costs of operations, supplies, and staffing.
-
Survey local residents to determine necessary services.
-
Familiarize oneself with
Creating a World Without Poverty:Social Business and the Future of Capitalism
 by MuhammadYunus as well as other relevant material.

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

Perform other work related duties as assigned.
 
Requirements:

Intern must be a Christian.
-
Intern must have an entrepreneurial spirit.

Intern must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Background in business plans helpful.

Intern must be a recent graduate or entering senior or junior year.

Intern must have a heart for urban environments.
-
Intern must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Intern must be able to work alone and with team members.
-
Intern must be able to think, work, and function independently.

Intern must have access to a car or bike for transportation.
-
Intern must have a laptop or computer.
-
Intern must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week).

Intern must possess a sense of humor and compassion.
