Journalism
The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarboroughinvites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in Journalism. Theappointment will be at the rank of Lecturer and will commence July 1, 2013.The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and broad professionalexperience in journalism. He/she also should demonstrate an understanding of the changingnature of journalism, both as a practice and as an industry. Expertise in one or more of thefollowing areas is especially welcome: new and emerging media practices, multimedia journalism, convergence journalism, digital storytelling, journalism ethics, and activist journalism.Candidates must have an advanced degree in journalism, or another relevant field,demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level, and a commitment to thescholarship of teaching and learning as it pertains to journalism. The successful candidatewill take a leading role in the development of the Joint Program in Journalism withCentennial College. S/he also will be expected to engage in service activities in thedepartment.Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years.In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made withrespect to promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Senior lecturers have continuingappointments. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.All qualified candidates are invited to apply by clicking on the link below.
