To: bgrotte@cityofsanmateo.orgDear Councilmember Grotte,As you may know, I publish a blog focused on San Mateo County's politics and policy.http://www.watchdogsanmateo.com.Over the past several weeks on the blog, I have discussed the San Mateo City Council appointment process toreplace now-Supervisor Carole Groom. It was with great interest that I read and wrote about the appointment of Fred Hansson. Some folks have emailed me prompting me to get some answers to questions about the appointment process. So, Ihave the following questions that I hope you will provide answers to:Did you meet with Fred Hansson, or any of the other possible appointees, prior to the meeting when youdecided on the appointment?Did you meet with anybody else, aside from the candidates, about the appointment process?Did you let any of the possible appointees or outside individuals know how you would be voting?Did you speak to your Council colleagues about the appointment process outside of the public meeting? Ifso, did you discuss how you would be voting?Thank you for your attention to these questions.I would like to publish a piece about this story Wednesday next week -- therefore, if you could please provideanswers by 5 p.m. Monday, it would be appreciated.I understand that you are under no obligation to answer my questions, as I am an anonymous blog. However, youshould know that I will publish your answers exactly as you write them, without edits.Thank you in advance for your attention to this request.Sincerely,Watch Dog San Mateo
