Welcome to Motril History Museum, a walk through this gallery will let you discover Motril’s rich past and think over the future to come.
The importance o the building is related to its long historyand important location. It was built at the end o the 17
 century and it was part o the deensive system o the city.The house was a property o Garces amily since thepost-war years and it was purchased by the City Hall o Motril in order to be renovated and be adapted or theexhibition o Motril’s local history.
Former aspect o Garcés Family house, headquarters o Motril History Museum.
Left (from top to bottom): 
1) Francisco Javier de Burgos welcomesthe visitor (main courtyard). 2) Start o theinteractive module Time and Territory (maincourtyard). 3) First oor guide map 4) Generalappearance o the introduction panels.
Let’s start the visit at the ground oor. Some historical characters o Motril history will welcome us in the house courtyard.The characters are: Queen Ceti Fatima La Horra, mother o KingBoabdil, last Nasrid king o the Arab kingdom o Granada, she haddierent properties around Motril; Luis Antonio Belluga y Moncada,he was born in Motril and named cardinal by Pope Clement X inRome; and Francisco Jose de Burgos, also born in Motril, who heldimportant public ofce in Spain.The entrance to the temporal exhibition room is also in the courtyard.When you fnish the visit, please come back to the courtyard andvisit the room called

). Thisroom will allow you to travel through dierent periods and placeso Motril history.
On the frst and second oors the history o Motril will be displayedaccording to ten periods or thematic axis. These periods do not reerto centuries, every axis coincides with important moments in thehistory o Motril.At the entrance to every oor there will be an orientation panel whichwill display the itinerary through the rooms and the most importantaspects dealt with by each room.At the beginning o each new axis there will be a red panel containinga summary o the main events that occurred during a period, whichwill then be explained urther with dierent written materials, piecesand audiovisuals. Also, inside the red panel will be a time scale wherethe main local events will be displayed in relation to global history.This will allow us to locate the historical events in a general contextas well as being a perect educational tool.
