Home and Housewares Show Preview 2013
by KitchenBoy on January 18, 2013This week I traveled to New York to attend the preview event for the 2013 International Home andHousewares Show (IHHS). Each January, the International Housewares Association hosts over 60companies who present their newest houseware products for the coming year. For me it is a greatopportunity to get a head start on the new kitchen products and whet my appetite for the full IHHS inChicago in March.Wandering the large room chatting with friends new and old, I was surprised and excited by much of what I saw and this article will highlight just a few of the interesting items on display.
New Housewares For 2013
I realized the three companies I chose to highlight were all situated on the same side of the room, butall have exciting, unique and fun products to discuss. I am hoping that finding such interestinghousewares right from the start is a harbinger for the rest of the new product season.
Grillbots by Humminah
The first company to catch my eye was Grillbots by Humminah. The term housewares doesn’t makemost people think of grilling, but to me, anything related to eating, drinking and serving should beincluded. The Grillbots were hard to ignore because the robots were actively and methodically making their way back and forth over a grill grate. Being male I am fascinated by gadgets that can make life easier, especially with tasks I dislike performing like cleaning a grill grate. As we grillers know, getting the grease and grime off your grill can be a real hassle. Grillbot is being presented as the innovative solution to this problem; it is like a simplified R2D2 for your grill. The Grillbot has an LCD alarm, timer, a computer chip to regulate speed/direction, 3 motors andreplaceable wire brushes. It also has a low battery LED indicator. Grillbots will work on gas or charcoal grills, rectangle or round grates and can hang from the side of your grill when not in use.
