As the Southern states attempt to rid themselves of federal control, Confederate troops attack Fort Sumter, commencing the tragedy of our country’s Civil War. President Lincoln determines to preserve the Union, but it costs him his own life. The country is stirred by the words of Harriet Beecher Stowe as she describes the tragic life of slaves taken from their families and forced into a life of hard labor. Generals Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee lead their men into bloody battles to determine the course of our nation.
Now children ages 6 to 12 can join the battle for liberty and make movable action figures of courageous men and women of the American Civil War. Famous Figures of the Civil War: Movable Paper Figures to Cut, Color, and Assemble allows children to perform their own historical re-enactments or create new stories using ten of the most important figures of the Civil War—including Abraham Lincoln, Clara Barton, a Confederate soldier, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, Robert E. Lee, Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, Ulysses S. Grant, and a Union soldier.
