You can cover the work place with a cloth.Do the lawn mower maintenance in an open place or keep the doors open.
TURN IT ON AND OFF
To have it easier when doing your lawn mower maintenance, turn theengine on and let it run for a couple of minutes. Warm oil is easier tochange. Then, turn it off.
SPARK PLUG
If you noticed that the mower was taking too long to start, this is usually awarning of a damageddirty spark plug. To abate your lawn mowermaintenance costs, no dirt should be allowed in the plug. Clean it andreplace the plug if needed.
OIL
Replace the oil. Most likely, you will need to turn the mower over to drainthe oil to a tray.
AIR FILTER
Next, check the air input and clean the air filter. To avoid oil from drainingout into the filter, make sure the filter stays in the upper position whileturning the mower on the side.
GASOLINE
Abate lawn mower maintenance by removing any gasoline left in the mowerfor more than a month. Gas deteriorates in about that time and can clog thecarburetor. Soon after, completely refill the mower's tank. A full tank is saferthan half empty ones, because no vapors can fill the void space. Use a fuelstabilizer if you are going to “winterize” the mower.
