MOVING FORWARD WITH SMALL BUSINESSES
Policies from Self-Employment Tax Deductions to Job Training Assistance Needed for Small Business
On the 57
the nation’s leading resource
for the self-employed andmicro-businesses, today encouraged the president to take bold action by
implementing a robust plan for America’s small business community.
“As President Obama takes the oath of office, over
million of America’s
including the self-employed and micro-businesses
stand ready to move forward with a robust plan that supports newbusiness growth and helps current business owners keep their doors openand expand. Our country needs supportive small business policies thatbolster their ability to thrive in our slowly rebuilding economy.
We not only need sound economic policies for existing small businesses, but also self-employment training assistance and micro-lending programsthat can help foster new businesses. We must reinstate the self-employment tax deduction on health insurance, expand the HealthReimbursement Arrangements to allow self-employed business owners toreceive the same benefits as employees, and urge states to implement Self-Employment Assistance programs as part of their job training and workrequirements for unemployment benefits.
“Now is the time for the
president and Congress to make the toughdecisions as the small business community does every day to grow ourbusiness, support our families and contribute to our communities. Now isthe time for you to do the job we elected you to do - to rebuild our economy
and strengthen our nation.”
Arslan recently applauded the Department of the Treasury for announcing a new
tax filing option for small businesses that claim the home office tax deduction. Inaddition, Arslan blogged on the
about the opening of the 113
Congressional session and the president’s second inauguration
encouraginglawmakers to work together in implementing a small business agenda.
