Kelsey Recreation Centre - Kids Camp - Counsellor/Respite Worker - The Pas, MBSummer 2003 - 2004
KRC summer camp was the first summer camp experience I had. I knew that I loved workingwith children, but this job presented new challenges that I now value as an educator. Duringthis position in the summer months, I was responsible for a child with special needs. I learnedto be patient, calm, understanding and empathetic both when it came to this child, as well aswith the other children participating in the camp. I learned to be fast, and think on my feet, creative and try new ideas as a means of keeping this child entertained and happy, problemsolve when things didn’t go according to plan and most of all I learned to respect each individ-ual child for their self, the way they are, and for what they each taught me.
