LEARN MICROSOFT WORD

1 Rules in the Computer Lab
1. The teacher explain briefly all the rules in the computer lab.
2. There are:
• Do not enter the lab with no permission or when the teacher
is not in
• No food and drinks
• Take off your shoes
• Keep Quiet
• Do not step on the electric cables
• Do not disconnect any cable,particularly when the power still
on
• Do not insert foreign cables for eg the sharp metal objects
into the computer
• Do not install new programs and uninstall programs
3. Activities
The students will be having an activity using the IWB by dragging
(using the IWB pen) the answer to the Do’s and Don’s column.

2 Switch On and Switch off the computer

1. The teacher will show the students which button to click to switch
on the computer.
2. Switch Off The Computer
• Click ‘Start’;
• Click ‘Turn Off Computer’;
• Click ‘Turn Off’

3 Basic use of the mouse

Open Microsoft Word

• Click ‘Start’;
• Click ‘All Programs’;
• Click ‘Microsoft Office’;
• Click ‘Microsoft Office Word 2007’;

4 Knowing basic parts of the computer

The teacher will show the students the four basic parts of the computer.
There are:

• Monitor
• Keyboard
• Mouse
• System Unit

The teacher will ask the students to open the Microsoft Word 2007 using
 the steps they
have studied in previous lesson.

5 Basic Use Of Keyboard

1. Open the Microsoft Word 2007

2. Typing A to Z (Upper Case)
• Show the students how to use the Caps Lock
3. Typing A-Z (Lower Case)
• Click Caps Lock to switch off for the upper case

6 Basic Use of Keyboard

1. Open Microsoft Word 2007

2. Type in all the name of the basic computers they have learnt in
Microsoft Word 2007.
3. Show the ‘ENTER’ button and click to move to the nex line.

7 Basic Use of Keyboard

1. Open Microsoft Word 2007

2. Key in numbers 1-100
3. Type the numbers and the spelling of the numbers. For example:

1- ONE
2- TWO
3- THREE
4- FOUR
5- FIVE

8 Typing Short Sentences

1. Open Microsoft Word 2007

2. Short Sentences “Myself”

LEARN MS PAINT
1 How to open MS Paint

1. Click ‘Start’
2. Click ‘All Programs’
3. Click ‘Accessories’
4. Click ‘PAINT’

2 Know the basic tools in MS Paint

• Eraser/ Color Eraser

• Pencil
• Line
• Fill with colour

Activities:

1. Draw the lines (this will help to improve their skill on using mouse)
2. Change it into many colours using the tool ‘Fill with colour’

3 Know the basic tools in MS Paint

• Brush
• Air Brush

Activities:

1. Choose the tool ‘Brush’ (different types of brush can be selected)

2. Ask the students to create any drawing using the brush and try to
use different colours

4 Know the basic tools MS Paint

• Rectangle (use to create rectangles and squares)

• Polygons (use to create shapes such as triangles, stars and etc)
• Ellipse (use to create circles and ovals)
• Rounded Rectangle
• The ‘Text’ tool with the symbol ‘A’
Activities:

1. Try to draw each shape using all the shapes tool

5 Draw basic shapes

1. Open MS Paint
2. Draw the basic shapes
3. Fill the shapes with any colours.
4. Name the shapes they have drawn.
6 Produce Simple Drawing

1. Draw ‘ Basic parts of computers’

2. Name the drawings using the ‘Text’ tools
3. Colour their drawings using their own creativity

TERM 3
LEARN USING CD-ROM
1 How to operate CD-ROM and view the files in the CD

1. Push the button of CD-ROM to open up

2. Locate the CD in proper position
3. Push the button of CD-ROM again to close
4. Wait a few seconds until the CD runs and appear in the window
interface
5. View the files insides the CD
6. Click or choose the files inside the CD such as MY_COMPUTER

Activities:

1. Open-up the CD and open file name MY_COMPUTER

2 • Showing the educational video-clips in the CD, by doing this the pupils
will recognize using this CD-ROM as same as using CD-player at home.

• View some pictures that have taken during the function in school, so that
make the pupils will know by using CD-ROM can look pictures.

• Showing the program in the CD that going to be use in this lesson such as kid
pix.

Activities:

1. Ask the students to draw any pictures using kid pix program.

TERM 4
LEARN USING INTERNET
1 Show how to open internet explorer and surfing through internet

1. Click ‘Start’
2. Click ‘internet explorer’
3. Then go the address in menu bar and typing the address websites
such as http://www.google.com for surfing

Activities:

1. Surfing on the GOOGLE websites to get the information about basic

parts of computer.
2. Then, surfing the educational websites from MOE.

3. Click ‘Darjah 1’
4. Click ‘exercises’ for basic parts of computer.

2 Do activities through internet.
