Violated Assumptions, we discover them when we encounter others: people, ideas, worlds Because they are either unconscious or semi-conscious they are not obvious to us. So how do we find them? Something surprises us! =ASK: what did I think was the case instead? Name it out loud as carefully and in as much detail as you can. Something feels off or disorienting. =ASK: what is missing? what difference does it make? Something seems quite wrong. =ASK: what exactly is wrong here? what do I think is right instead? What other clues tip you off that you are discovering what you take for granted in encounter with something else?
