This case relates to the attack of 14February 2005 in Beirut.
On 19 December, the Pre-Trial Judge
extended the Prosecution’s deadline to
complete the disclosure of 368 exhibitsplanned to be used in trial until 15 January2013.The Prosecution later also requested on 21December that the Pre-Trial Judge allow itto add 28 individuals to the list of witnesses,as well as a number of additional exhibits toits evidence list.On 15 November, the
Prosecution filed itsPre-Trial Brief, the list of witnesses it intendsto call at trial, and the list of exhibits itintends to offer into evidence.According to the Brief, the Prosecutionintends to call 557 witnesses and there are13,170 exhibits on the exhibit list. The totaltime estimated for presentation of theProsecution's case is 457.5 hours.The Pre-Trial Brief and associateddocuments were all filed on a confidentialbasis. tothe Appeals Chamber of the Special Tribunalfor Lebanon (STL).
Judge Hrdličková, from the Czech Republic,
will replace as of mid-January Judge KjellErik Björnberg, who is retiring.Judge
Hrdličková holds a PhD from the law
faculty of Charles University in Prague andspecializes in Islamic Shari'a, with a focus onhuman rights and Islamic finance ininternational and Islamic law.
Since 2008, Judge Hrdličková also acts as a
legal expert of the Council of Europe inmatters related to human rights, moneylaundering and the financing of terrorism.She is further specialized in thedevelopment of the rule of law in post-revolution societies.The
