**PERT SIGN-UP: 10th, 11th, & 12 Graders interested in taking the PERT test (scheduled for Feb. 5) must pre-register n the library by Fri, Feb.1. **Animal Shelter Donations: The third grade classes are collecting supplies for the Franklin County Animal
Shelter. The following is a list of the supplies they need: dog treats, dog toys (hard rubber), kitty litter, cat toys, and cleaning supplies. Each class has a donation box setup in their room- Mr. Boyd, Mrs. Cathy Creamer, Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Schaffer.

**LOST & FOUND: If you have lost any clothing items, please check in room 303 (300 building). There are numerous jackets, sweat shirts, & tee-shirts which need to find their rightful owner. **ACT Practice Exam: Dr. Lois Catlin will be giving an ACT Practice Exam on Saturday, Feb. 2, in the FCS library, 9:00am-2:00pm. STUDENTS MUST PRE-REGISTER with Dr. Catlin in the library on Thurs, Jan. 31, from 12:00-2:15pm. OR, pre-register at FC-EF@hotmail.com .

4th Annual Franklin County School Miss Seahawk Pageant


The FCS Miss Seahawk Pageant will be held March 2 in the FCS auditorium. To be eligible, young ladies must be enrolled in Franklin County School, grades PK 11th grade. Registration & Entry Fee: $60 due by Feb. 8. Late Registration by Feb. 22 requires $15 late fee. NO APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED AFTER Feb. 22. The Culinary Class would like to introduce a new project. The class has been divided into 14 teams. Each team will come up with a new restaurant concept and study all of the relevant elements of having a successful business. During the Friday Class Caf, you will now be hosted by one of out teams for their Grand Opening! We will announce members of each team & menu in the Seahawk Scoop. MCKAY SCHOLARSHIP: The McKay Scholarship was established in 2000. This program was designed to
parents of students with disabilities to choose the best educational settingpublic or privatefor their child. Who is eligible? Students who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Accommodation Plan (for more than 6 months) and meet the following requirements: The student spent the prior school year in attendance at a Florida public school during the preceding October and February FTE surveys in Pre-K through grade 12, or The student spent the prior school year in attendance at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind during the preceding October and February FTE surveys in kindergarten through 12, or The student received specialized instructional services under the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program during the previous school year, or The student is a dependent child of a member of the United States Armed Forces who transfers to Florida from out of state due to a parents permanent change of station orders What are the options? **KidCare & Medicaid Application Assistance: There is a Community Health Worker, Jo Ethridge at the Franklin County Health Department in Apalachicola on every Thursday from 8:00 am 4:00 pm. She will be at the Franklin County Annex (Carrabelle Clinic) on Tuesday, January 15 & Wednesday, January 23. Ms. Etheridge is available to assist families with applying for KidCare as well as Medicaid. Come in to see her. You can also reach her at (850)624-3640. No appointment is necessary. Apalachicola Community Services Center also has someone to help with applying for services such as Medicaid, KidCare, and food & cash assistance. James Rutherford can assist you at the center. It is located at 192 14th Street, Apalachicola, FL. They are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Appointments are scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday thru Friday. GED CLASSES
The Franklin County Adult Education Courses will be offering GED classes at the Franklin County School in the near future. The next GED Test will be given Feb. 4 & 5, 2012 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm. To register for the test or for classes, contact Maxine Creamer @ 670-4481. The Franklin County Adult Education Courses do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, National origin, age, handicap, or marital status.
