Purpose:
Through a stakeholder engagement process, the Office of Planning (OP) willcreate a strategy to activate portions of North Capitol Street, Rhode IslandAvenue, and Florida Avenue while preserving the individual character of ad- jacent neighborhoods. OP will work with the District Department of Trans-portation (DDOT) as it conducts a Livability Study to improve pedestrian andbike safety, transit and vehicular flow in the planning area. The goals of theSAP are to:
Create revitalized, thriving and pedestrian safe corridors
Renew commercial corridors and enrich physical connections
Preserve neighborhood character and historic resources
Redevelop vacant properties
Prioritize public safety
