hat a way to start 2007 ~with wind, snow, ice, and a cancelledmeeting. You might think it is theworst winter ever, but stop by ourofce to see photos of ice on LakeSammamish and Lake Washingtonback in 1950 and ice skaters on theSammamish River in 1910. Sothere’s proof of colder days foran extended time.Some members braved the coldand icy roads on January 13th only tond our doors locked. I apologize to

The Colmans lived in Kennydale,a now disappeared community thatwas once on the south end of MercerIsland.The diaries, says Tom, “give a greatglimpse of pioneer daily life that was just as pertinent to Redmond settlersand their hardships as it was to theKennydale people. I have read themfrom 1886 to 1888 and some partsafter that to 1900 and it is a treasuretrove of information on the hardshipsand vicissitudes of daily living.”Sherry wrote a front-page articleon the diaries for the
