The Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc is the largest restaurants system with nearly 30000 in more then 100 countries.

The History Of KFC

The fonder Colonel Harland Sanders was born september 9 1890 in Henryville Indiana. At the age of 6 his father died. His mother was forced to go to work and Harland had to take care of his brother and sister. At the age of 10 his started work on a farm for 2$ a month. He held a series of jobs from he was 15 and working as every thing he could get over. When Harland was 40 the started cooking for hungry travelers that stopped at his service station in Corbin Kentucky. He served the folks on this own dinner table in his living quarter at the service station.

As more and more people continued coming just for food he moved across the street to a motel with a restaurant. Over the next nine years the perfected his secret blend 11 herbs and spices. In 1935 the Governor of Kentucky made him a Kentucky Colonel for his cooking. In 1950 he sold is his business and payed his bills he was reduced to living on his 105$ Social Securety checks. With that his started franchising business. He made deals with reastaurants owner that he get a nickel for each chicken the reataurant sold. That was in 1952. By 1964 he had more than 600 franchised. That year the sold his company for $2 million.

On the stock Exchange

KFC went on the New york stock Exchange January 19 1969. More than 3500 franchised and companyowned restaurants were in the chain when in 1971 Heublein Inc. Acquired KFC for $285 million. In October 1986 by PepsiCo Inc. for $840 million. In 1997 PepsiCo spined off KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut in to an independent restaurant company the Tricon Global Restaurants Inc.
