Firefox is already running but is notresponding
If you cannot start Firefox, the problem may be one of several causes. This articledescribes various situations in which Firefox does not start and the steps you cantake to address the issue. The program must close to allow a previous installation attempt to complete. Pleaserestart.If you are receiving the above error message on a Windows Vista system whileattempting to start Firefox, try to restart the program. If the problem persists, do thefollowing:
Restart your computer.
Select the Start Menu in the Windows Taskbar.In the Search box, enter the following: %APPDATA% Press Enter.From the Application Data folder, navigate to Local\VirtualStore\ProgramFiles\Mozilla Firefox. Delete the file xpicleanup.dat.

Error opening file for writing...If you receive the above error when launching Firefox on a Windows system, youmay be required by Firefox to log in as an administrator. You can either reboot thecomputer or, if you have an administrator account, you can execute the program asan administrator.
Find the firefox.exe program file in the Firefox application folder on yoursystem.
Right-click the icon.Windows XP: Select Run As.... Select The following user:. From the User name drop-down, select Administrator or another user that has administrator privileges. Enterthe password required to login to this account. Click OK.Windows Vista: Select Run As Administrator.... Complete a similar set of steps, asthose listed above. The Firefox application is started using the administrator Windows account. The userthat was used to login to Windows at startup is still the active one.Firefox will not start after installing or updating McAfee SiteAdvisor
Firefox may fail to open after:
installing or updating the McAfee SiteAdvisor Firefox extension, orupdating McAfee software that includes the SiteAdvisor component
