Assad Supporters Rally After Israeli airstrike

What a discouraging set of observations from these commentators. Assad kills 50,000 plus of his own people and you are worried about Israel attacking a military convoy headed for Lebanon. In case, you forgot, the terms of the agreement to end the Hezbollah war, were that Israel withdraw from Lebanese territory, cease its fire, and that Hezbollah guarantee that it would not receive weapons from Syria. They have bragged how convoy after convoy have been resupplying them in violation of the truce-Israel finally took action. Of course nothing I say will make sense to many of you-some pointing to Israel/US conspiracy against Assad (which if effective how come so many have been killed by Assad forces as reported by Human Rights watch, UN observers, and non-US media), or the great jewish media control, or even 911 being the responsibility of Israel. It saddens me how vicious people are when it comes to Israel, but blind to atrocities being committed by others from Mali to Egypt to Syria to Kenya, etc.

Denying reports, Syria said Israeli jets had hit a defense research facility in Jimraya.American officials said they believed that the target of the attack on Wednesday was a convoycarrying sophisticated antiaircraft weaponry on the outskirts of Damascus that was intended for Hezbollah in Lebanon. In a statement, the Syrian military denied that a convoy had been struck. It said the attack had hita scientific research facility in the Damascus suburbs that was used to improve Syria’s defenses, and called the attack “a flagrant breach of Syrian sovereignty and airspace.”The reactions from Iran, Russia, Lebanon and the Shiite militant Hezbollah group highlighted theregional and diplomatic stakes of the war in Syria.According to the Fars news agency, Hoseyn Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said: “Israel’s attack on the suburbs of Damascus will lead to graveconsequences for Tel Aviv.”He did not detail what he meant. But he said Israel should not have confidence in its antimissiledefense system “because this system proved to be useless during” last December’s conflict inGaza, when Palestinians fired rockets that reached the outskirts of Tel Aviv.Russia, which has carried out a vigorous diplomatic battle to deter foreign military interventionin the Syrian conflict for more than a year, issued a statement of concern early on Thursday, describing the strikes as “an attack by Israel’s air force on objects in Syria, near Damascus.”“If this information is confirmed, this is an unprovoked attack on the territory of a sovereignnation, which blatantly violates the U.N. charter and is unacceptable and unjustified whatever itsmotives,” said a statement posted on the Web site of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
