COLD AND FLU REMINDER:
Cold and flu season is just around the corner, so be prepared! Check your medicine cabinet andstock up on some of the basic supplies to keepon hand for the dreaded cold and flu season, and remember these general healthy guidelines:

WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY
: the Number One method to prevent the spread of cold and flu isfrequent HAND WASHING.

Keep your choice of cold and flu remedies on hand,including: antihistamine, pain reliever, cough drops, andImodium.

Keep plenty of clear liquids on hand: tea, apple juice,Gatorade, ginger-ale, popsicles & chicken broth— Jell-O, soup, crackers and dry cereal are a must.
ALSO REMEMBER:

STAY AT HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK.

Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily; hydrate to remove toxins.Dehydration occurs easily; consult your doctor if you areunable to tolerate food and drink for more than 24 hours.

Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.Disinfect shared surfaces to stop the spread of germs, anduse liquid hand sanitizer whenever you see a dispenser.

Eat a healthy diet that includes fruits & veggies to boostimmunity and get plenty of sleep.

Reduce stress and exercise to build up your strength to fightinfections.Resident Services is available for assistance; we are able toshop, pick up prescriptions, freshen the bed linens, preparemeals, provide biohazard clean up, check vital signs and offer support during your illness. We can also deliver meals fromthe dining room; a list of services and pricing is in this month’sVillager.

Congratulations toour 2012 Food Drive Raffle winner Mary R. Smith! Thank you to every-one who so generously participated inour 2012 Food Drive in December of this past year. We collected over 600 pounds of food for the Southern AZCommunity Food Bank. The FoodBank provides food to individuals,families and local agencies in need of temporary food assistance throughtheir Emergency Food Box Programthroughout the year. 


ELEVATOR EMERGENCYPHONE:
All Elevators are equippedwith an emergency phone system. Inthe event of a mechanical problem, please activate the emergency buttonsand you will be transferred to our emergency operator, where a live person will be able to send someone toassist you, 24-hours a day.
