Strosberg, Q.C. of Sutts, Strosberg LLP in Windsor, Ontario and Bob Buckingham of Bob Buckingham Law in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, announce that Bob Buckingham Law will join a consortium of three law firms from across Canada to prosecute the national class action against the Attorney General of Canada for breach of privacy in the recent loss of Canada Student Loan borrower information by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Our consortium brings a tremendous breadth and depth of experience to this national class action, says Mr. Buckingham. On January 11, 2013, the federal government announced that the personal and financial information of approximately 583,000 student loan borrowers was lost from a federal government office in Gatineau, Quebec. On January 17, 2013, Bob Buckingham Law filed a national class action. Thereafter, Sutts, Strosberg LLP, Falconer Charney LLP and Branch MacMaster LLP - also commenced proceedings. Mr. Strosberg says, The loss of confidential personal information is a serious issue in the digital age.
