President’s Address
Dear Friends and Colleagues, As we see BIM evolving and becoming an ownerrequirement more and more, an important partnership caught my eye thispast week.Researchers from Autodesk and NASA announced that they will implement Autodesk Project Dasher at theNASA Ames Sustainability Base, a 50,000square foot office. Autodesk Project Dasher is an experimental BuildingInformation Modeling (BIM) web-based application that can provide buildingowners and operators insight into full life-cycle real-time buildingperformance. This new technology continuously evaluates and verifies abuildings performance as energy usage, occupants and function changeswithin it.The cool thing about Project Dasher is that it goes beyond current graphicalor floor-plan viewers. It acts as a visualization “hub” presenting 3Drepresentations of data collected from various sources to the buildingoperator, providing a building debugging tool to improve building efficiency.Using BIM is an ideal platform to manage complex building information. I ampositive that we will be hearing more about Project Dasher as this researchproject progresses.Tim Duncan, AIA President/CEOCADsoft Consulting

Infrastructure Modeler & Civil 3D – The DreamTeam For Civil!
Ron Couillard, AEC Technical ConsultantCivil 3D is an awesome tool for Civil Design as mostpeople are aware of. But one combination of softwarepackages that is becoming more and more of a greatthing for Civil people is the use of Civil 3D and Infrastructure Modelertogether. The power that each piece of software has is amazing in itself, butwhen used together can be, well, simply amazing! It used to be that youcould come up with a great preliminary design in Modeler, but then wouldhave to recreate the project in Civil 3D. Those days are gone! With the useof IMX files, designs can be either imported or exported to and from bothCivil 3D and Infrastructure Modeler.Read Blog
