 Tweetsy: A Twitter Sharing Tool
Who hasn’t heard of Twitter.com these days? As Twitter grows exponentially andinterconnects a few million people via its innovative 140-character micro-blogging, it’sundeniable that Internet marketers will want to use the service to interact with others of like minded people and somehow use the system, directly or indirectly to their advantage.Today, I want to write about a marketing tool called Tweetsy, which is defined as a“Twitter sharing tool” locatedhttp://tweetsy.com.One would wonder what objective and purpose such a marketing tool would have forpeople who are building a follower base on Twitter. From what I have observed, this toolhas several key features that are unique when compared to similar Twitter “viralmarketing tools.”While automated posting to Twitter is nothing new and dozens of sites provide remoteposting features, a growing number of tools are sprucing up with the specific intent of helping marketers grow their number of followers. Some are “bots” that accomplishcertains tasks on autopilot and some are natural such as the case of posting tools whichrequire user interaction.Tweetsy is definitely not a bot. Without a user choosing from a set of pre-selectedmessages customized by the script owner and without entering a captcha code, nothinggets sent to the user’s page. The script requires the same amount of effort if not more thanwhen a Twitter member posts while logged into Twitter. While other tools focus on promising money or a boost of followers as long as one willsimply retweet the site, Tweetsy seems to take a completely different approach to Twitterpostings: “sharing” and “giving”.

Sharing what? Another key difference between this concept and other similar tools in themarket is the fact that the script user can pre-program certain items to be shared on his orher Twitter page. Additionally, anyone who posts, automatically receives a free gift. The script is pre-loaded with editable random messages and URL’s. The idea of “giving”and “sharing” surely has a larger appeal than just “retweet this and make money” typepitches, likely to turn people off.In fact, Tweetsy doesn’t come across as representing false promises or gimmickyfunctionalities, riches, Ponzi schemes or the like and the best way to see how it works isto actually use it. For example, one of the site’s freebies consists of a robust imagesearch script that webmasters can install for free. Other freebies include free reports aboutTwitter and even how to get emergency money in a recessionary economy.Tweetsy promotes a “one post per IP per day” concept to prevent users from posting toomuch of the same message on Twitter. Users access credentials are never stored in orderto protect user’s privacy. Only the IP address is recorded.Installation is easy even for most people who are new to script installation. Installationconsists of editing the database access parameters and filling out an installation form. Thewhole process takes about 5 minutes maximum. There is some uniqueness with Tweetsy that you won’t’ find on other similar programs. For example, some of the error messages on the site can be humorous. Tweetsy alsopromotes external sites that would spike the interest of online marketing gurus, namely,Twitter search engine, Google’s Latitude, Tweep Search Local Tweets TweetScanTweet Us! 140it and the site’s audio message about ‘spam’ and what is defined as‘giving’ and ‘sharing. It’s clear that Tweetsy.com is putting forth an effort to distance itself from other Twitterviral marketing concepts. Conclusion: the Tweetsy tool can be used for increasing followers, promoting free offers, increasing subscribers, promoting product launches, membership sites, free e-books, freescripts, free software, etc. It seems to be a tool for serious online marketing enthusiastsas opposed to just another “post some junk on Twitter” script, Ponzi scheme or spammytool. As Twitter grows in size and scope, the “tweeple” crowd will see more programs likethis. Some tools will be better than others but, ultimately, it’s up to end users to decide if the use of such marketing mechanisms benefit them or distract them from
“what they’redoing…”
The way I see it, Tweetsy is likely to succeed as long as Twitter users enjoy true benefitsfrom this application.
